Darrun Hilliard records game-high 31 points to lead Grand Rapids to win

Grand Rapids Drive guard Darrun Hilliard had a game-high 31 points to lead the Drive to a 128-99 win over Raptors 905 Saturday afternoon at Hershey Centre in Mississauga.

Raptors 905 gained an early 14-4 lead just over four minutes into the first quarter, then Grand Rapids went on a 16-0 run to take over the lead in the opening period and never relinquished it from there. The Drive took a 73-46 lead into the half, led by 15 first-half points by Devin Ebanks. Raptors 905 gained five points with a strong third quarter, but that’s as close as the Mississauga club would get.

In addition to Hilliard’s 31 points, Grand Rapids also had double-digit points from Ebanks (21), Lorenzo Brown (17), Ryan Boatright (game-high 16 bench points) and Dahntay Jones (13). For Raptors 905, Scott Suggs led the team with 19 points, while Delon Wright (15), Keanau Post (14), Melvin Johnson III (10) and Jay Harris (10) rounded out the double-digit scorers. Wright added a game-high eight assists, while Ronald Roberts Jr. had a game-high eight rebounds.

The Drive led Raptors 905 in all scoring situations, including field goal percentage (50.5-47.4), three-point percentage (39.1-29.2), free throw percentage (83.3-71.4), points in the paint (68-50), second chance points (25-12) and fast-break points (28-22).

Raptors 905 is back in action Wednesday, December 9 when the club plays host to the Erie BayHawks at Hershey Centre in Mississauga at 7:30 p.m.
