Raptors 905 forward Ronald Roberts Jr. recorded his second double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead his club to a 101-80 win over the Erie BayHawks Wednesday night at Hershey Centre in Mississauga.
After a 19-19 first quarter in which Raptors 905 shot just 27.8 percent from the field (5-for-18), it shot 59.2 percent (29-for-49) from the field in the final three quarters. The BayHawks, meanwhile, had a 35.7 field goal percentage on the night (30-for-84). Raptors 905 led 48-39 at the half and took a 20-point lead into the fourth quarter en route to its third victory of the season.
Along with Roberts Jr.’s double-double, Raptors 905 had double-digit point totals from six different players in the game, the others being Melvin Johnson (game-high 20), Scott Suggs (16), Bruno Caboclo (15), Keanau Post (10) and Axel Toupane (10). Shannon Scott added a game-high six assists. For Erie, Jordan Sibert led the team with 16 points off the bench, while Nnanna Egwu and Keith Appling contributed 14 points apiece.
Raptors 905 led the BayHawks in field goal percentage (50.7-35.7), three-point percentage (50.0-16.7), points in the paint (38-32) and second-chance points (15-8), while Erie led in free throw percentage (73.9-71.4) and the two clubs tied in fast-break points (17-17).
Raptors 905 is back in action Friday, December 11 when the club plays host to the Maine Red Claws at Air Canada Centre in Toronto at 11 a.m.
